Alex Rodriguez is a third Baseman for the American baseball team, New York Yankees. He is popular for his stellar performances in the baseball field but what a lot of people probably don't know about him is that he is also passionate about playing poker.

Alex Rodriguez was born on July 27, 1975 in New York City. As a kid, he had always been interested in baseball, and some of the baseball players that he idolized back then were Cal Ripken, Dale Murphy, and Keith Hernandez. Such passion for the game allowed him to play excellently in high school. He did not even have a difficult time when he requested to play for the University of Miami. The university did not only recruit him to play baseball but also to play football. But at the age of seventeen, instead of playing college baseball, Alex Rodriguez decided to participate in amateur baseball instead. When he finally made a mark in baseball, he donated US$3,900,000 for the renovation of the baseball stadium of the University of Miami. Since college, Alex Rodriguez has been supporting the University of Miami without fail.

Alex Rodriguez first played for the baseball team Seattle Mariners from 1993 to 2004 before he was traded to the New York Yankees on February 15, 2004. The knee injury suffered by New York Yankee third baseman Aaron Boone seemed to be a blessing in disguise because such incident became an opportunity for Alex Rodriguez to show his talent as a third baseman.

Such event turned out to be a big success. It was participated by at lot of big names in the entertainment and poker industries. Furthermore, the event was able to gather approximately US$250,000 for the two charities. Apparently, it was another victory for this celebrity poker player.
